Developing and applying water governance monitoring and assessment

WGF enhances the water governance knowledge base through developing and participating in national, regional and global monitoring and assessment processes. WGF currently develops water governance assessment methodology to be applied at country level. WGF has also been an implementing partner in the Regional Water Benchmarking project in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and currently hosts the outcomes of the project.

WGF contributes to global and regional reports on water governance related issues. Since 2006 WGF has made major contributions to the World Water Development Report (WWDR) of the United Nations. WGF contributes to the 4th World Water Development Report, 2012, with inputs to thematic areas and report outlines. WGF has put together a chapter on: "Water and Institutional Change - Responding to present and future uncertainty".

WGF provides project monitoring and evaluation services, to complex water and sanitation governance programmes being implemented by our partners. WGF contributes to the Global Annual Assessment of Sanitation and Drinking-Water (GLAAS), a UN-Water pilot initiative that reports on global progress in the sanitation and drinking-water sectors.

WGF coordinated and produced Chapter 2 "The Challenges of Water Governance" of the United Nations World Water Development Report 2.

WGF was a member of the Editorial Advisory Panel for the Global Corruption Report 2008 on water.
