Promoting and advocating improved water resources management
The WGF increases the understanding and raises the awareness of water governance and its application. This is done by enhancing the water governance knowledge base and providing information and tools to promote and advocate improved water resources management and related services. The WGF documents good practices from local-, country- and river basin level.
Please navigate on the left to read more on WGF's different capacity development modalities including the training programme on integrity and accountability in the water sector, our interventions at different learning events, as well as the knowledge management programme on democratic and economic governance of water supply and sanitation (DEG-KM).
Examples of other activities:
- In connection the Water Governance in Practice, WGF together with GWP and Dundee University is developing a Human Rights Based Approach to water resources allocation. A report is being produced analysing how this approach can contribute to improve equitable allocation of water resources.
- WGF is supporting the Gender and Water Alliance in updating the GWA Resource Guide on Mainstreaming Gender in Water Resources Management. The GWA Resource Guide will also be translated and adapted to Bangla, Urdu and Hindi.
- The Poverty, Wealth and Water Initiative (PWWI) has consulted the governments of Uganda and Kenya to identify their water investment priorities. WGF, in partnership with SEI will provide technical support to facilitate programme implementation.
